Richmond VT Community Profile & History
Richmond, Vermont is located in the western foothills of the Green Mountains on the eastern edge of the Lake Champlain valley. The Winooski River bisects Richmond from east to west, as does Interstate 89, the New England Central Railway and U.S. Route 2. Richmond was organized in 1795 and is recognized for being home to the Old Round Church, a 16-sided church built in 1813. A National Historic Landmark, the Old Round Church is one of the oldest still-standing community churches in the country.
