Raymond, New Hampshire is well on its way to an economic resurgence in the 21st century. This rural town experienced economic prosperity in the mid-nineteenth century, and today it is in the midst of another period of growth and rejuvenation. Town historians say Raymond began as a sleepy farm town which was transformed into a busy manufacturing center by the arrival of the railroad in the mid-1800s. The Raymond schools and town recreation facilities share a symbiotic relationship, serving both the town's educational and recreational needs. Through dedicated volunteer efforts, the town has created exceptional new recreation facilities. Track, tennis, soccer, football, baseball, basketball and softball are among the sports played on the practice, competition and tournament-quality fields located in town; several boast lighting for night games. A new sports/skateboard park, developed through volunteer work and private donations, is located on land along the Lamprey River.
