Alexandria, New Hampshire is a town in central New Hampshire. First granted in 1753 by Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth, Alexandria was named for Alexandria, Virginia, location of a conference that resulted in the declaration of the French and Indian War. It would be incorporated in 1782. Alexandria was the birthplace of Luther C. Ladd, the first enlisted soldier to lose his life in the Civil War.
