Wiscasset, Maine is a town on Maine's Atlantic Ocean coast in Lincoln County. Incorporated from the former Frankfort Plantation in 1760, Wiscasset was originally known as Pownalnborough. The town's present name, which is of Indian origin, was reinstated in 1802. The Lincoln County Courthouse, completed in 1824, is the oldest in continuous use and is one of many historical buildings in town.
