Windham ME Community Profile & History

Windham, Maine is located in the Sebago Lakes region of southwestern Maine. Settled in 1735, Windham was incorporated from New Marblehead Plantation in 1762. A mill was erected at Mallinson (Horseshoe) Falls as early as 1738.

The Presumpscot River flows the length of the town from Sebago Lake Basin to Westbrook in the south. Windham is within easy reach of pristine lakes, internationally recognized ski mountains and beautiful Casco Bay. The greater Portland area offers scenic beauty, recreational opportunities and a wealth of historic and cultural attractions.
