Savoy MA Community Profile & History
Savoy, Massachusetts is a small town in Berkshire county, Massachusetts. Established as part of Northern Berkshire Township #6, which also included present-day Adams, North Adams, Cheshire and Lanesborough, the town of Savoy was settled in 1777 and officially incorporated in 1797. The town supported many small farms in its earlier years, though several mills were established along the Cold River in the 19th century. Now primarily residential in nature, Savoy is known for its scenic beauty, with much of the town's land occupied by the scenic Savoy State Forest. Other attractions include Tannery Falls and the Westfield River, which offers several prime spots for fishing, kayaking and whitewater canoeing.
