Scotland CT Community Profile & History

Scotland, Connecticut is a rural town of about 1,700 in eastern Connecticut. Incorporated in 1857 but established more than a century earlier, Scotland is notable as the birthplace of Samuel Huntington, a leading patriot during the American Revolution and a delegate to the Continental Congress, where he signed the Declaration of Independence. Huntington's birthplace, currently located on Route 14, is one of three sites on the National Register of Historic Places in Scotland. Predominantly rural in nature, Scotland today offers beautiful colonial homes, country roads, and the rustic ambiance of small-town New England.
