New Fairfield CT Community Profile & History
New Fairfield, Connecticut was incorporated in 1740 and existed for almost 200 years as a quiet farming community. A major portion of Connecticut's largest man-made lake, Lake Candlewood, lies within the borders of this charming New England town. The creation of the lake in 1928 provided hydro-electric power for the entire Greater Danbury Area. Lake Candlewood also provided was a spectacular summer resort which has gradually matured into an attractive year-round community of homes.
