Killingly CT Community Profile & History
Killingly, Connecticut is a town in northeastern Connecticut. It consists of the borough of Danielson and the villages of Attawaugan, Ballouville, Dayville, East Killingly, Rogers, and South Killingly. One of Connecticut's early towns, Killingly was settled in the mid-1600s and incorporated as a town in 1708.
Killingly grew and developed as a collection of mill villages that relied on waterpower from the many streams and rivers to produce quality textiles. The Town's development has been rejuvenated in the modern era with the development of the Killingly Industrial Park located adjacent to Exit 94 off Interstate 395. The Killingly Industrial Park provides employment for 3,200 workers in 2.1 million square feet of industrial space. Killingly offers an ideal location for commuters, with four interchanges on Interstate 395 and easy access to the cities of Hartford and Worcester.
Several fine examples of eighteenth and nineteenth century homes, antique churches, a lush town green and water-powered mills all provide an authentic New England backdrop to a relaxed lifestyle. A thriving rural community with easy access to major cities, Killingly offers a great business climate, numerous recreational and cultural opportunities, and a welcoming, friendly atmosphere.
