Kent, Connecticut is a small town on the New York border in western Connecticut. Incorporated in 1739, Kent was known historically as a farming community before becoming a major supplier of iron ore in the region. Now primarily residential in nature, Kent retains some small industry and farms. The downtown area is a popular tourist destination, with the historic hamlets of South Kent and Bulls Bridge and the town's signature Civil War Soldiers Monument at the intersection of State Route 7 and Route 341. Alongside its historical attractions, downtown Kent offers a mix of residential homes, shops, art galleries and restaurants.
Education is a high priority in Kent, and along with the recently renovated public elementary school the town boasts three renowned private preparatory schools: Kent School, South Kent School and Marvelwood School. Art is well represented in the many galleries downtown. Kent residents enjoy hiking, biking, camping and fishing at Kent Falls State Park, which offers scenic views of 17 different waterfalls and a newly renovated trail system. A rustic small town within easy reach of the city, Kent offers an unparalleled quality of life, excellent schools, bountiful scenery and an ideal location just 90 minutes from New York City.
