Barkhamsted CT Community Profile & History

Barkhamsted, Connecticut is a small town in northern Connecticut. First settled by Europeans in the mid-18th century, much later than most towns in Connecticut, Barkhamsted was formally incorporated as a town in 1779.

The villages of Pleasant Valley and Riverton are contained enirely within Barkhamsted's borders, with the latter home to a historic downtown. Other points of interest include the Old Riverton Inn, the Peoples State Forest and Museum, and Saville Dam.
